Workers’ representatives intensify the demand for the government to put in place an independent ministry through which their issues and challenges can be addressed as a priority.

The Workers’ representative Arinaitwe Rwakajara says the ministry of gender, labor, and social development cannot effectively handle their concerns as major contributors to the government economy hence the need to have a fully-fledged government ministry.

Rwakajara notes that several workers are being mistreated without help and their fund mismanaged because there is no ministry to take care of their interests citing the ongoing struggle between the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Gender to take full control of the National Social Security Fund.

He further launched his manifesto and among the things, he promises to establish regional study centers under the labor college of East Africa in Uganda.

This was revealed during a meeting for workers at Labour College of East Africa in Namuwongo, Kampala.
