Two days to the election, Democratic Party candidate of Ibanda district woman Mp seat Immaculate Namara has dropped from the race.
Namara 31, who has joined the ruling National Resistance Movement – NRM party says she decided after getting to realize that power and power belong to the NRM. Namara also told reporters that Democratic Party leadership has neglected her since she got nominated.
“DP paid my nomination fees but since then I have lost touch with the head office to the extent of lacking support to print posters and other necessary election materials,” said Namara.
She claimed that his family became concerned and asked her to withdraw from the race and join the mass party. She has been a member of the Democratic Party for the last five years.
“My husband and the rest of my family members belong to NRM. They have been convincing me to join the party and they have finally succeeded”. Said Namara.
According to Namara, she chose to join NRM of her to secure her future and the entire family.
She requested all Ugandans of voting age to turn up on the 14th and vote for NRM candidates for both presidential and parliamentary elections
Winston Rwankore Rutehenda, the Ibanda municipality NRM chairperson paraded Namara before journalists in ibanda municipality on Monday and thanked her for making a wise decision.
Rutehenda told the media that Namara will now join the big team to canvas votes for President Yoweri Museveni and all other NRM candidates in Ibanda district.
Rutehenda was given a copy of the NRM manifesto and the part card to guide her in her mobilization work.
