Parliament wants the government to raise and move to protect the business interests of Ugandans who export their products to neighboring Kenyan market.

This after the Minister of Trade, industry, and cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde presented to the house a status report on the performance of Ugandan products in the regional market following reports of Kenya declining entry of Ugandan milk products to Kenya.

The legislators warn the government to invoke some of the provisions of the regional treaty and reciprocate with action against Kenya’s decision to bar Ugandan milk products.

The speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Mps Joseph Sewungu, John Baptist Nambeshe, Jackeline Amongin among others took the podium to rally the government to respond quickly to the Kenyan government for its actions.

In response Minister Kyambadde noted that the two governments are slated to meet over the above matter promising to report to the house the outcomes.
