Municipality of Ntugamo mpYona Musinguzi has tabled evidence against minister of science and technology Monica Musenero over abuse of funds of over 31 billion meant for COVID-19 vaccine development.
Last week, the deputy speaker, Anita Among, directed the minister to give a statement on the matter after the mp raised queries on vaccine development in the country during a debate on the statement on the country’s COVID-19 response and vaccination process, which was presented before Parliament by Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng.
During last week’s parliament debate, Ntungamo Municipality MP Yona Musinguzi noted that a statement presented by the minister mostly made reference to donated supplies and limited procurement by the country.
However, today, Musinguzi said that one of the beneficiaries of the 31 billion shillings is the minister’s husband, Micheal Masanza, and that she wrote to the ministry of finance blocking the funding of the ministry of science and technology.
Dr. Monica Musenero says that accusations are squarely to be answered by Dr. Monica Musenero. I wondered why the minister did not come to explain why he gave the money to what Ssemujju termed a fake company.
Budadiri, west county representativeNathan Nandala wanted this matter to be investigated by the Public Accounts committee since there is an audited report on this money, and to make a report to parliament to avoid the budget committee passing another supplementary budget worth 50 billion shillings.
The deputy speaker of parliament, Anita Among, ordered the minister of internal affairs to provide security to MP Yona Musinguzi after he requested the speaker on the ground that last week, after raising the matter in parliament, there were people following him.
The deputy speaker has promised to establish a select committee to investigate the matter.
