Today 15th 10 2024 at around 1140/c, a joint team of Security in Ibanda District recovered a gun, an AK47 with 02 live rounds of ammunition in Igorora village, Igorora parish, Igorora town council, Ibanda District.
The gun was in the possession of one Kiiza Ashraf a known robber/thug in the area for some time but he had been on the run / elusive due to operating in different Districts mainly Mbarara, Kazo, Kiruhura, Kamwenge others involved in robberies and cattle thefts.
The gun No. UG PSO 56S 4101 385 13187 was found hidden in a swamp.
The arrest of Kiiza Ashraf materialized on the 10th of October 2024 through a joint Intelligence-led operation of Police, Updf, and ISO, and handed over to Bihanga Army Barracks for further interrogations since he denied the gun in the preliminary inquiries.
Kiiza reveals that the gun was given to him by one Godfrey another thief who stays in Kamwenge who told him that he had stolen it from someone but never disclosed who.
Further inquiries to find out where the gun was stolen from and arrest other culprits are ongoing.
