Parliament.
Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah has urged members of parliament to understand that it is constitutional to deny a suspect bail in courts of law.
The speaker revealed this is after the Kira municipality Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, raised a procedural matter seeking the speaker’s guidance on how they were going to proceed after Makindye west mp Allan Sewanyana and Kawempe North mp Muhammad Segirinya was denied bail.
The High Court in Masaka yesterday denied the two legislators bail despite the court having granted the two legislators bail before their re-arrest.
Oulanyaha, in response, informed MPs that it is constitutional to deny or grant bail and that they should not politicize the denial of bail to the two legislators.
