Deputy speaker Anita Among has revealed plans by Parliament to scale down on the number of staff and MPs to attend each sitting to scale down on the spread of the COVID pandemic.
While presiding over today’s plenary sitting, Among said that Parliament has agreed to have only 20% staff work daily and there will be communication on how many MPs will attend each sitting at the end of the sitting.
Among also says that there are ongoing consultations on how parliament will perform its duties during this pandemic.
Among also led parliament in paying tribute to prominent people including former members of parliament and the public that have succumbed to COVID-19 recently.
Among in her communication also urged members of parliament to follow up on the resolution that was passed by the last parliament to distribute hoes to households as a way to promote agriculture.
Among says that the hoes have been delivered at different districts where each household is supposed to receive two hoes and has urged members of parliament to follow up on this matter so that their district does not miss out like it was on the masks.
