Parliament ,
This is after Mukono North Member of Parliament Abdallah Kiwanuka raised a matter of national importance where he wanted the government to clarify when they plan to bring an enabling law to enable the organ transplant facility in Mulago to start operating.
Kiwanuka says that many Ugandans are spending over 100m to go abroad for this kind of operation and yet the country has a facility which they cannot use due to absence of an enabling law.
Kiwanuka based his argument on the story in the New Vision which revealed that Mulago hospital has set up a facility to perform organ transplants such as Kidney Cornea, heart and bone marrow but can not undertake these operations for lack of an enabling law.
The speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah tasked the minister to update parliament on the status of the facility tomorrow.
