Parliament has approved the seven-member committee to process the censure motion of the state minister for housing Persis Namuganza where she is accused of undermining the speaker of parliament Anita Among and also engaging in the Nakawa Nagguru land saga.

The seven-member committee is chaired by the Mbarara South division MP Mwine Mpaka and will be deputized by Ndorwa East MP Wilfred Niwagaba. Other members include Mpindi Bumaali representing PWDs, Charles Bakabulindi the worker’s MP, Betty Ethel Naluyima the Wakiso district woman MP, Geoffrey Ekanya Tororo North MP, and Nancy Acora the woman MP for Lamwo district.

The deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa has given the committee up to 23rd January 2023 to present the report. He has also noted that although parliament wrote to the president to inform him about the motion to censure his minister, the same law doesn’t require him to first respond before parliament proceeds with the motion.

Legislators revealed that the speaker followed the rules and regulations in constituting the committee and every member has the right to be heard
