The Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa in August 2020 left the nation astonished when she “authoritatively” said that Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga should not be elected as the 2nd National Vice Chairperson of National Resistance Movement.
Nankabirwa, in a strongly worded WhatsApp audio, instead called for the election of Bukono Member of Parliament, Princess Persis Namuganza.
It ended in tears for Nankabirwa as Kadaga trounced Namuganza with over 65% of the votes declared by the NRM EC boss.
The same political misfortune followed Nankabirwa to Kiboga where she was terribly defeated as the Woman Member of Parliament. Nankabirwa even collected most of her belongings from Parliament in the first week of February, four months before handing over in June 2021.
Aloof to the saying that, “once bitten, twice shy”, Nankabirwa has taken the same political misfortune to the deputy speaker of parliament, Jacob Oulanyah who is seeking to unseat Kadaga.
Just like in August last year, Nankabirwa on Wednesday authoritatively stated that Oulanyah “will spearhead the legislation”.
“I didn’t make it but I know we shall see you around spearheading legislation in this country,” said Nankabirwa.
The Kadaga camp said they are not bothered with Nankabirwa. “We have nothing to do with that loser. Let her nurse her misfortunes,” said a source from Kadaga camp.
“We defeated her schemes in August last year.
The people of Uganda are now politically alert and will never listen to opportunists anymore.”
Nankabirwa wanted to be deputy speaker of parliament with Oulanyah as her boss but the people of Kiboga were the first to deny her the chance leaving her so bitter.
