Prime minister Dr.Ruhakana Rugunda revealed this while addressing parliament on the plea made by the member of parliament for Kawempe north Latiff ssebagala who wanted curfew time to be suspended to allow the Muslim community to be free while in the holy month of Ramadan.

Rugunda said that though the government is to review some of the measures put in place to control the spread of Covid -19, the threat and scourge of covid -19 is still within the people.

He stated that Projections indicate that people should not relax to guard against covid-19 because the number of positive cases reported has started unfortunately to increase, especially in urban areas, border districts, and trading centers.

He said that the President will in the coming days be addressing the Nation with more details on this matter of curfew, where the government has reached in the fight against Covid -19, and what more steps need to be taken to keep our people safe.

However, some of the members who include kawempe north mp Latif ssebagala Dokolo district woman mp Cecilia ogwal and Otuke county mp Julius Acon insisted that curfew should be removed since it has become a money-making venture for the security operatives.

Dokolo county mp Cecilia ogwal said that the government is contradicting it by allowing new NRM party members to gather at kyankwanzi when it banned public gatherings beyond 200 people.

pakwach district woman mp Jane Pacuto said that also government should review the number of people being transported in public transport because the cost of transport is currently unbearable to upcountry travelers.
