Livestock Census to Cost 11.6 billion.

The government through the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries plans to undertake a National Livestock Census as part of the efforts to plan better for this sector. 

The last census was done in 2008 and established that about 4.5 million households rear at least one kind of livestock or poultry.

The census that will cost a total of 11,6 billion shillings, will be conducted from the 17th to the 28th of this month across the country

The state minister in charge of Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama says that the census to be conducted jointly with UBOS will take into account the dynamics that have occurred over the last 13 years and enable Government to plan better

Minister Rwamirama told Journalists at the Media Centre.
