Police in Ibanda are holding four people on allegations of killing an 87-year-old man.
According to Rwizi Police Publicity, ASP Samson Kasasira, the unfortunate incident happened on the fateful Monday evening in Kayenje Ward, Bufunda Division in Ibanda Municipality.
The matter was reported at Nyabuhikye police station by Florence Twahikwa, a business woman who reported to police that a person was found murdered by unidentified assailants in Nyabuhikye trading centre in Ibanda Municipality.
It’s alleged that the deceased was attacked by two unidentified men in his house, strangling him to death and robbing him of a yet to be identified amount of money that he had been paid to hire his land out.
Kasasira says the crime scene was cordoned off and examined by the scene of crime officer plus the homicide team.
The dead body was found lying inside the house, with blood oozing through the mouth and signs of strangulation around the neck.
The deceased was identified as Furigensio Kuhurubuka, aged 87 years, a resident of Kayenje cell in Ibanda municipality.
The body has been taken to Ruhoko Health Centre IV mortuary pending post-mortem while four suspects have been arrested to help in investigations.
Kasasira says the suspects are in connection with the murder and are being held at CPS Ibanda as inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
The case of murder by strangulation is registered under VIDE IBANDA SD REF66/01/11/2021.
