The bill that was moved by Ayivu County legislator Hon Benard Atiku provides for the death penalty for persons that finance other persons to commit offenses of human sacrifice.
The Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act that awaits assent from the president indicates that persons who mutilate or cause the death of another person to perform or further a ritual commit an offense.
It indicates that all the perpetrators of human sacrifice are imprisoned for life including those who injure the victims in the act of sacrifice will be liable to imprisonment for ten years.
A person who unlawfully has their possession, human body parts, unlawfully uses human body parts in medicine or concoction, whether for sale associated with human sacrifice, commits an offense and is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for life.
The minister of state for planning, David Bahati noted that Human Sacrifice is a creeping human rights Violation that is a great danger to society.
Jonam county MP Ongiertho Emmanuel together with Adjuman District woman representative Jessica Ababiku proposes that every perpetrator be charged in court-martial if found guilty.
