The National NGO Forum warns civil society organizations to desist from issuing statements about the ongoing investigations about the Democratic Governance Facility saying that this could result in reprimands.

Last week, a directive by President Yoweri Museveni to the ministry of finance surfaced in which he ordered those operations of DGF which funds most NGO`s in Uganda be suspended. The president expressed concern that funds were being dispensed by the facility without any supervision and that it was possible that such funds were being used to support acts of subversion.

According to NGO forum spokes person Patric Engazi revealed that Nine (9) NGO`s led by the Uganda National NGO Forum, the Centre for Constitutional Governance, and the Human Rights Centre Uganda questioned the directive.

Following that statement, the National NGO bureau says action will be taken if other such statements are issued.

  1. Kindly verify your article/facts – do you mean NGO Bureau issued the statement warning NGOs? One is an NGO and the other is a government entity.
