Bugweri county member of parliament Abdu Katuntu says he made a mistake to announce early retirement from politics in 2016.
It should be remembered that Katuntu after taking his parliamentary oath in 2016 declared that he will not be contesting again for political office as he felt the four terms he had served were enough.
However, in the shift of events, he contested for a parliamentary seat as an independent candidate, ditching his historic party FDC.
Asked by journalists on his shift in positions, Katuntu said it was a mistake to announce early departure from politics adding that his voters rebuked him for making such an important announcement without consulting them, prompting him to return and serve them until they vote him out.
On what he intends to do differently in his fifth term, Katuntu said that, unlike the other terms where he was restrained by party positions, this time around, he will serve his voters better with no restraint from any party because he is independent.
